Good advice :D
good god i needed to see this right now. science writing (and doing science for that matter), while different from creative endeavours, is not immune to the “holy shit everything i’m doing is terribad and all my facts are wrong and i sound like a flailing 12 year old writing a lab report about dissecting a worm” feeling. i’ve been struggling with the main chapters of my dissertation….shortened first draft of main ch.1 got back some comments of “needs stronger conclusions”….which of course got me paranoid that my style is shit. not to mention that i’ve sent out stuff and not gotten any comments (which i am now assuming means everything’s okay)….which is annoying in the least. i KNOW my writing isn’t perfect….i NEED comments, good or bad.
also, i REALLY need to order that new keyboard for my imac (last one fell victim to a full cup of sweet, milky chai)….because the temporary replacement that i snagged from work is neither as ergonomical, nor as easy to read in dim light.
and with that, i’m going to stop reading sherlock fanfic and go back to work on the dissertation…..may pull an allnighter if i feel like i’m getting somewhere.
